Overview
The Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute seeks application for a full-time academic cardiologist with specialization in electrophysiology.
Candidates must hold the FRCPC in Internal Medicine with subsequent certification in Cardiology or equivalent specialty certification. Preference will be given to candidates with a significant academic profile. Training in complex VT ablation would be an advantage but not mandatory. Practice profile will be negotiated based on expected academic and clinical deliverables.
The successful candidate must be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Ottawa within the Department of Medicine; be a member of or be eligible for membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and, have experience teaching medical students and residents. Fluency in both official languages (English and French) would be considered a strong asset.
The University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) is a large tertiary centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The successful applicant would join a group of nine cardiac electrophysiologists comprising the arrhythmia service at UOHI. The team performs over 900 ablations and 1500 device implants per year in 4 state-of-the-art electrophysiology labs.

The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service), salary support (AFP/APP) as well as honorariums/stipends.
