Canada's First Ever Wear Red Event

Heart Institute Invites Media to Attend Keynote Presentations

Wednesday, February 13 marks the launch of the first official Wear Red Canada campaign to raise awareness about women’s heart health. The campaign is an initiative of the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance, powered by the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI).

To commemorate this important day for women’s heart health in Canada, members of the media are invited to attend two (2) special presentations:

Breast Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease: Two Sides of the Same Coin?

7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Foustanellas Auditorium, 40 Ruskin Street

Dr. Michele Turek, Staff Cardiologist at the Ottawa Hospital and University of Ottawa Heart Institute, and medical advisor for the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Centre, will highlight the relationship between breast cancer and cardiovascular disease as they present in women.

Women and Heart Disease: Seeing Through the Fog

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
Foustanellas Auditorium, 40 Ruskin Street

Dr. Coutinho will present shockingly real statistics about heart disease, the number one killer of Canadian women. Dr. Coutinho will be joined by Ms. Lappa to share her inspiring story about her illness, recovery and lessons learned.
