Function

To provide research assistant support for clinical research projects at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.  The incumbent would be working under the supervision of the Manager, Clinical Research assisting with regulatory document management, both multicentre and single site responsibilities.

In addition to other study and project management activities, other Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations and responsibilities of Sponsor regulatory document management for multicenter and single site studies:
    • Management of adjudication process and deliverables with external/internal physicians for multiple UOHI Sponsor studies.
    • Support day-to-day operations and responsibilities of national/international studies in conjunction with Project Managers and Research Coordinators to ensure completion of study deliverables and outputs.
    • Actively contribute to participant screening/study activities in department studies within the research group.
    • Regularly meet with research manager and research staff (online and/or in-person).
  • Completion of Research Ethics Board Renewals/Submissions and tracking when required.
  • Assist with general office duties as required.

Basic requirements and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline.
  • Previous work experience (or equivalent combination of training or experience) in a clinical or research environment.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask, are essential for ensuring study progress.
  • High level of proficiency with computer software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Competencies and suitability

  • Knowledge of the clinical research process and currently trained in GCP, TCPS2 and Division 5.
  • Highly organized and self-directed with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; spoken and written.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
