The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada funds innovative Heart Institute research

The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada (Heart & Stroke) named four researchers from the University of Ottawa Heart Institute recipients of project funding through its Grant-in-Aid Program.

The Grant-in-Aid Program provides operating funds to support important, pertinent, novel research in the areas of heart disease and stroke.

  • Thomas Lagace, PhD 
    Project: Role of PCSK9 Proteolytic Processing in Inflammation  
    Funding: $278,775 over three years 
  • Jennifer Reed, PhD 
    Project: Exercise Training in WomEn with HEart Disease (EXCEED) Randomized Control Trial (RCT)  
    Funding: $275,915 over three years 
  • Benjamin Rotstein, PhD 
    Project: Imaging Cardiac Autonomic Function in Heart Failure 
    Funding: $261,000 over three years 
  • Alexandre Stewart, PhD 
    Project: Macrophage Growth Factor that Protects Against Endotoxin-induced QT  
    Funding: $300,000 over three years
