Living Bravely and Loving Boldly: How Your Diagnosis Can Drive Action for Heart, Brain, and Vascular Health

Cost: Free - you do not need to be registered for the 2025 Canadian Women's Heart Health Summit to attend this event. 
Who Should Attend: We warmly welcome people with lived and living experiences, as well as anyone interested in women’s heart health, including caregivers.

Join us for a powerful two-hour virtual session designed for women diagnosed with cardiovascular disease who are ready to take action and make a difference.

Hosted by the Heart & Stroke Foundation (HSF) and the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Centre, this session—part of the 2025 Canadian Women’s Heart Health Summit—focuses on transforming personal experience into action. 

Whether you're newly diagnosed or managing your condition, this session will empower you to:

  • Take proactive steps to improve your own health and support your loved ones.
  • Connect with others who share your journey.
  • Advocate for better heart, brain, and vascular health in Canada.

In this session you will: 

  • Hear expert advice from leading cardiologists and health advocates.
  • Be inspired by real stories from women like you.
  • Participate in breakout discussions on advocacy, research, and peer support.

Career mentoring session

Mentoring opportunity for Trainees and Early-Career Researchers (ECRs)

Date: Friday, April 25, 2025
Time: 12:25 - 1:10 pm ET
Location: Rogers Centre Meeting Room 210

Discuss your research projects, training programs, and career development plans with fellow trainees and top researchers and clinicians in heart, brain, and vascular health.

This is a valuable chance to build connections, receive guidance, and gain insights from leaders in the field.

You will be able to make one selection from the following themes:

  • Developing and Sustaining your Funding Strategy: Your first grant and beyond!
  • Early-career planning and setting up your research program: Building a team that works
  • Transferable Skills: Capture and showcase everything you do
  • How and When to Say ‘No”: Identifying the right opportunities at the right time
  • Networking: Success through collaborations and mentorship
  • Academic Job Market and Beyond: Navigating the changing landscape
  • Engaging Patient Partners in Research: Building relationships for better science

Each table will include an invited expert/mentor who will lead and facilitate the discussion. Each participating trainee will briefly discuss their present work and career aspirations with the opportunity to discuss and receive feedback from the experts.

The session will end with a general question and answer period.
