The University of Ottawa (uOttawa) Faculty of Medicine has bestowed Dr. Rob Beanlands, deputy director general of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI), with an award of distinction for lifetime achievement.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honours an alumnus or alumna who has accomplished a lifetime of significant contributions and achievement in the advancement of health outcomes and patient care. This award is presented to an alumnus or alumna who is recognized as a leader in their field and has demonstrated professional excellence and dedication to their community.
Dr. Rob Beanlands is an international leader in cardiovascular nuclear imaging and the founding director of the UOHI’s national cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) centre, the first PET facility in Canada dedicated to cardiovascular disease. He is a professor in the Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine with cross appointments in the Department of Radiology and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
