The International Society of Hypertension (ISH) has awarded the ISH Paul Korner Award for 2021 to Dr. Frans Leenen of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. The ISH presented the award to Dr. Leenen yesterday during a virtual awards ceremony and presidential lecture.
Dr. Leenen is a prominent scientist in the field of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. He has dedicated his life and research career to the sympathetic nervous system, its pathogenetic importance, assessment, and clinical role in various stages of hypertension and hypertensive disease.
The Paul Korner Award is presented biennially on the recommendation of the ISH Awards Committee to a person who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to hypertension research in the broad field of neuroscience.
