The University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) offers internationally recognized programs, education and services for the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease risk factors to patients, families, healthcare practitioners, and the public.

From helping you find the physical activity programs that are safe and appropriate for your particular situation, to spearheading change to the women’s heart health landscape in Canada, our centres and programs offer all Canadians an opportunity to become an active player of their health.

Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program

Cardiovascular rehabilitation is the next step back to health for people who have had a heart attack, cardiac surgery or other cardiac events.

Cardiac Supportive and Palliative Care Program

The Cardiac Supportive and Palliative Care Program is a specialized outpatient clinic for patients diagnosed with advanced cardiac disease and their caregivers.

Patients at the Heart Institute may use one or more of the services offered through the Cardiac Virtual Care Program.

Heart Wise Exercise

Heart Wise Exercise works with fitness providers in your community to develop and identify programs and classes that are appropriate for people who want to stay healthy, continue with exercise after cardiovascular rehabilitation, or who may be living with a chronic health condition.

Quit Smoking Program

The Quit Smoking Program is a nurse-led clinic that provides you with one-on-one support during your attempt to quit. Through the program, we provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment where we tailor a “quit plan” to meet your individual needs.

Telehome Monitoring Program

The Telehome Monitoring Program is designed to help very sick patients stay healthy at home so they do not experience frequent return admissions to the hospital.
