3rd Annual Ottawa Heart Research Conference
Advances in Heart Failure Management: The Science and the Art
Major advances in treatment and prevention have finally arrived to heart failure care. As a result, heart failure treatment is currently being re-organized and re-examined. Still, much remains to be uncovered about underlying mechanisms contributing to the spectrum of heart failure conditions but recent research promises novel treatments and innovations are on the horizon.
This 3rd Annual Ottawa Heart Research Conference highlighted the best of international science in heart failure. The Conference Program featured the prestigious National Heart & Stroke MacDonald Lecture delivered by Prof Douglas Mann, Chief of the Cardiovascular Division at the Washington University School of Medicine, who discussed his research on the molecular and cellular basis of the clinical presentation of heart failure.
This conference occurred just in time for the tenth anniversary celebration of heart failure guidelines in Canada, and highlighted heart failure guidelines update by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) team. The art of looking after complex heart failure patients was featured in interactive sessions in conjunction with the CCS Heart Failure Society.
The two day Conference Program featured something to energize everyone: from biomedical cardiovascular scientists to specialist cardiologists, to primary care providers, and allied health care members to health policy innovators.
