The University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) is awaiting instruction from provincial public health authorities concerning the specific role this hospital will play in vaccinating the community under Phase Two of the government’s vaccine distribution plan.
What we know:
A March 5 Ontario Government backgrounder states vaccine administration will focus on age and risk. Older adults, especially those with health conditions including heart disease, are deemed at elevated risk of death and hospitalization from COVID-19. Ontario is expecting to vaccinate this priority group between April and July, depending on the availability of supply from the federal government.
The UOHI will share details about vaccine rollout when that information becomes available.
