Dr. George Wells, director of the Cardiovascular Research Methods Centre at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, has been named one of 10 recipients of a special 30th Anniversary Medal awarded by the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH). Every five years, CADTH bestows its anniversary medals to no more than 10 individuals whose hard work and dedication have helped develop, support, and expand the use of health technology assessment as a vital component of an effective health care system.
Dr. Wells is an internationally recognized expert in network meta-analysis and a key contributor to health technology assessment methodology. In addition to his role at the UOHI, Dr. Wells is currently a professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
