Summary
The University of Ottawa and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI)Telfer School of Management (TSM) invite applications for Postdoctoral Scholars to conduct research in the areas of healthcare operations and analytics. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Christopher Sun, PhD, the Canada Research Chair in Data Analytics for Health Systems Transformation, and work closely with his clinical collaborators as well as faculty at TSM to address problems with direct relevance to current medical and operational practices, especially those related to cardiovascular disease management.
This position builds on a unique partnership between the UOHI, world-class tertiary cardiovascular research, education, and patient care centre, and the TSM, one of Canada’s two triple-accredited business schools. This collaboration facilitates the development and implementation of novel analytical models at UOHI through unique access to UOHI’s operational and patient data.
Qualifications
- PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Operations Management, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields by the start date.
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other general-purpose programming languages.
- Expertise in optimization and/or machine and deep learning (e.g., image recognition, natural language processing).
- Prior experience analyzing large real-world datasets is highly desired.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in interdisciplinary research teams.
Term
The position will commence once filled - a start date in Summer/Fall 2025 is preferred. This position is for two years (one year with possibility of extension based on mutual consent and performance). The starting date can be flexible to accommodate the successful candidate. The stipend is commensurate with experience.
