Dr. Sanela Music is a cardiologist and clinician teacher at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She specializes in heart failure, cardiac transplantation, echocardiography and pulmonary hypertension.
Background
Dr. Music earned her medical degree from McGill University in Montréal, where she also completed her residency training in internal medicine and in adult cardiology. Dr. Music pursued further post-graduate education with fellowships in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Northwestern University in Chicago, and in advanced echocardiography (with a focus on structural echocardiography) at the University of California in San Francisco.
Research and clinical interests
Dr. Music’s interests include the intersection of heart failure and cardiac imaging, diagnosis and management of various cardiomyopathies (for example, genetic and infiltrative causes such as amyloidosis), heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support (durable and temporary), valvular disease in heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and the use of exercise hemodynamics.
