Clarizia, Nadia

Dr. Nadia Clarizia is a cardiac surgeon and intensivist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Background

Dr. Clarizia earned her medical degree at the University of Toronto and completed residency training in cardiac surgery at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. She went on to complete a fellowship in adult critical care medicine at the University of Ottawa and a fellowship in advanced cardiac surgery, mechanical circulatory support, and thoracic transplantation at the Cleveland Clinic. She has a master’s degree in clinical trials and epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Workforce on Critical Care. She joined the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in 2024. 

Research and clinical interests

Dr. Clarizia’s interests are in surgical therapies for heart failure, hybrid atrial fibrillation ablation, enhanced recovery after cardiac surgery, and optimization of post-operative outcomes for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
