Diem Tran, MD, is a staff anesthesiologist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Ottawa.
Background
Dr. Tran completed her medical degree from Queen’s University and her anesthesiology residency at the University of Western Ontario. During her following academic year, she completed a cardiac anesthesiology fellowship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. She also obtained a Masters of epidemiology at the University of Ottawa. She joined the Heart Institute full time in 2013.
Dr. Tran is a site principal or co-investigator for the Heart Institute’s participation in several multi-centre clinical trials. Dr. Tran is a member of the Canadian Anesthesiogists’ Society Research Advisory Committee. She is the recipient of the UOHIAMO Innovations Award 2015 and the University of Ottawa Department of Anesthesiology Operating Grant 2014.
Research and clinical interests
Clinical
Dr. Tran’s clinical interests include the 3D echocardiography, use of point of care ultrasound and blood conservation.
Research
Dr. Tran’s research interests include the prediction and prevention of postoperative atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery, perioperative monitoring and epidemiological studies of perioperative outcomes.
